Nigeria’s foremost players union, Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), has restated its commitment to the betterment of Nigerian footballers.

In its condolence message to the family and friends of the late football legend and coach Ismaila Mabo, PFAN, prayed that God gives the family and friends of the ex-Super Falcons coach the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

The message signed by PFAN President Tijani Babangida, MON, also reiterated that the betterment and welfare of past and present Nigerian footballers, both home and in diaspora are paramount.

“Let’s reiterate that PFAN remain committed to the development, betterment and welfare of Nigerian players. We understand the peculiar, but unfavourable working conditions of the players and that has led us to set-up a task force on players welfare. And I tell you they have already hit the grounds and running.

“It is a fact, also, that life is for the living. Therefore the task force on welfare, have been engaging some of the distressed players, as well as, the debtor clubs on ways to settle the lingering financial crisis. The worker must earn his wages and when it’s due.

“PFAN will not relent in this and on other important issues. We once again appeal to the football administrators and clubs owners to ensure that the welfare of their players are taken seriously,” the former Super Eagles and Ajax Amsterdam star player said conclusively.
