The maiden edition of the Late High Chief Cyril Ohani Memorial Cup will be played at the Enugu Mmaku Community Secondary School Field from December 22 to December 31, 2025.

 

According to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Oguefi Godwin Ohani, the football tournament is being organized in honour of the late High Chief Ogbuefi Cyril Ibezimaku Ohani (Ogbuzulu I), as part of activities marking his one-year memorial remembrance.

 

Oguefi . Ohani disclosed that trophies and medals would be presented to the winners on January 1, 2026, at the Oposhi Market Square. He noted that the presentation ceremony would be graced by prominent dignitaries, including Hon. Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, former PDP Chairman in Enugu State; Hon. Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Enugu State; and Barr. Amaobi Ezeaku, Chairman of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu.

 

The Chairman explained that the memorial cup is aimed at promoting unity, youth development, and grassroots sports within the community, while also celebrating the enduring legacy of the late High Chief, who was widely respected for his leadership and service to humanity.

 

The Organizing Committee has enjoined members of the public, football lovers, and well-wishers to join the Ohani family and the Mmaku community in celebrating the life and times of their late father during the one-year memorial remembrance activities.

 

The tournament is expected to attract teams and spectators from within and outside the community, making it a major highlight of the end-of-year celebrations in the area.
