The Lagos State Football Association has declared an increase in the affiliation fees required from all football clubs based in Lagos across various levels of the sport.

In an official announcement signed by the Secretary of the Lagos FA, Mrs. Vera Hycient-Okechukwu, and shared with the media, it was highlighted that there has not been a notable rise in the affiliation fees paid by clubs over the past 14 years under the democratically elected LSFA board.

During the COVID pandemic, the LSFA opted to waive fees for clubs and also implemented a 50% reduction for the 2023/2024 football season to accommodate the prevailing economic conditions.

In recent football seasons, the LSFA has faced economic challenges and difficulties in covering its operational, capital project, and overhead expenses due to the current economic climate in the country.

To date, the LSFA has relied on loans and support from individuals to maintain its status as one of the most progressive football associations in Nigeria.

As the 2025/2026 football season is set to begin on Friday, August 01, 2025, the Chairman of the Lagos FA, Hajji Gafar Liameed, along with the board, has sanctioned a new affiliation fee structure for clubs, aimed at enhancing service delivery to stakeholders, executing capital projects, and addressing operational and overhead expenses.

Furthermore, it was noted that the new affiliation fee structure is in line with the current stable economic policies and indicators of Nigeria's economy.

Under the revised affiliation structure, NPFL clubs in the state will now be required to pay N750,000; NNL teams are expected to contribute N500,000; the Nigeria Women Premier League will have a fee of N250,000; and Nationwide League One is set at N200,000.

For Nationwide League Two, the fee is N150,000; men’s non-league clubs will pay N100,000;

While the Nigeria Professional League is set at N150,000; the Nigeria Women National League will be N100,000, and the women’s non-league teams will now pay N50,000.
