Kurudu All Stars and Kurudu United have honored their former head coach, Ezindu Okay-Lawrence, with a prestigious Award for Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to football development in Kurudu and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The grand ceremony, held in Kurudu, Abuja, brought together players, officials, supporters, and members of the football community to celebrate a coach whose impact has been felt far beyond the touchline. The award acknowledges Coach Okay-Lawrence’s dedication to grassroots football, particularly within Kurudu, AMAC Area Council, and his lasting influence on young talents across the FCT.
Coach Okay-Lawrence managed the affairs of Kurudu All Stars from 2020 to 2024, a period widely regarded as one of growth and success for the club. His tenure came to an end when he was signed by FJ Football Academy in Akure, Ondo State, marking a new chapter in his coaching career. Under his leadership, Kurudu All Stars—and by extension Kurudu United—recorded notable achievements, including trophy wins and strong performances in competitive tournaments.
Beyond results on the pitch, Coach Okay-Lawrence earned praise for his unwavering commitment to youth development. He invested significant time and effort in mentoring young players, many of whom have gone on to become professional footballers, with some currently plying their trade abroad. His focus on discipline, confidence, and personal development helped shape players both as athletes and as individuals.
Presenting the award, club representatives described the honor as a fitting tribute to a coach whose passion, professionalism, and selfless service have left an indelible mark on Kurudu football. They noted that his legacy is evident in the continued progress of the teams and the success stories of the players he nurtured.
The ceremony served not only as a celebration of past achievements but also as a recognition of an enduring legacy that continues to inspire the next generation of footballers in the community.
Congratulations to Coach Ezindu Okay-Lawrence, fondly referred to as “Officer-Coach.” The Kurudu football family wishes him continued success and fulfillment as he carries his vision and expertise to new heights.
