The Chief Executive Officer of Kun Khalifat Football Club of Owerri, Michael Chukwudi, has described the club’s promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) as a “dream come true.”

Speaking with Tony Ademodi, shortly after the team clinched a ticket to the NPFL at the NNL Super 8 Playoffs in Ozoro, Chukwudi expressed deep pride in the achievement and credited the success to dedication, resilience, and the belief of his players.

“It’s been a long journey to the NPFL,” Chukwudi said. “Remember I told you 10 months ago in Aba during the NLO Playoffs that I would take this club to the top division. Today, that dream has become a reality.”

The young football administrator from Imo State lauded everyone who played a part in the club’s meteoric rise, saying:

“My appreciation goes to everyone who has been part of this journey. They are the true champions.”

Chukwudi also assured supporters and stakeholders that Kun Khalifat FC is not resting on its laurels.

“We will work more to make this club better. This is what I’ve been planning for, and with this opportunity we have now, we will build on this success story.”

Kun Khalifat FC, which began as a grassroots football club in Irete, Owerri, has recorded an inspiring rise through Nigeria’s football leagues—moving from the Nationwide League One (NLO) to the Nigerian National League (NNL), and now earning a coveted place in the NPFL within just three seasons.

Their promotion marks not only a milestone for the club but also a significant moment for football development in Imo State.
