Katsina United Hold Lobi Stars to 1-1 Draw in NPFL Matchday 24

Lobi Stars were left frustrated as they played out a 1-1 draw against Katsina United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 24 fixture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
Despite dominating the first half, Lobi Stars failed to convert their chances, with Alexander Oche, Segun Olorintoba, and Jimmy Iteji all coming close but unable to find the breakthrough.
Head coach Daniel Amokachi made key tactical changes in the second half, introducing David Tyavkase, Chikeluba Ofoedu, John Akende, and Martins Ossy. The substitutions paid off, as Lobi Stars took the lead in the 68th minute when Akende tapped in from close range following a brilliant attacking move led by Ofoedu.
Lobi Stars pushed for a second goal, with Tyavkase, Ossy, and Akende all testing Katsina United goalkeeper Kolimba Alladoum, who made crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
However, just when it seemed Lobi Stars would secure all three points, Katsina United’s substitute Promise Damala struck an 86th-minute equalizer with a well-placed header, ensuring the visitors earned a share of the spoils.
Reflecting on the game, Amokachi admitted his side needed to be more clinical but remained optimistic about bouncing back.
“We’ll go back to the drawing board and work on the areas identified,” he said.
