Super Falcons hopeful Joy Omewa lit up the Elite Divisionen on Saturday, delivering a sensational second-half hat-trick to lead Fortuna Hjorring to a commanding 6–1 demolition of Odense at the Nature Energy Park.

Though the champions had already secured the league title, Omewa’s relentless hunger was on full display as she netted the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th goals for her side in a stunning 22-minute blitz — pushing her season tally to 22 goals and four assists in 23 appearances.

The Nigerian forward’s dazzling performance came after a brief moment of adversity: she was booked in the 35th minute, just before Odense’s Ajla Habibovic leveled the score at 1–1. But Omewa came out of the halftime break with renewed focus and fire.

She restored Fortuna’s lead just one minute into the second half, before adding two more goals in the 62nd and 68th minutes, completing an unforgettable hat-trick that left the hosts stunned and helpless.

With this emphatic victory, Fortuna Hjorring continues to underline why they are Denmark’s best this season — finishing 13 points clear of second-placed Nordsjaelland.

Omewa’s explosive form is also likely to boost her chances of breaking into Nigeria’s Super Falcons squad ahead of WAFCON Morocco 2024. Having already featured at youth international level, her senior call-up feels increasingly like a matter of when, not if.

Fortuna Hjorring will wrap up their season at home against Nordsjaelland Women next Saturday, where Omewa will look to add yet another chapter to her already-impressive campaign.
