Jos Teenager Sentenced to 6 Months for Phone Theft

 

A Jos Area Court sentenced 18-year-old Hassan Faruk to six months imprisonment for stealing a Nokia phone worth ₦120,000. Faruk, a mechanic, pleaded guilty and begged for leniency. Judge Shawomi Bokkos offered an alternative ₦50,000 fine.


According to prosecutor Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, Faruk broke into the complainant's room and stole the phone on May 15. The phone was recovered during police investigation.


The offense contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law.
