John Utaka Foundation Launches 2025 Empowerment Drive for Nigerian Youths Through Sports and Education

In a renewed commitment to uplifting less privileged Nigerian youths, former Super Eagles forward John Utaka has unveiled new empowerment initiatives under the John Utaka Foundation (JUF) — aimed at providing access to quality education and life-changing opportunities through sports.
Speaking at the unveiling of the Foundation’s 2025 programme lineup, Utaka emphasized the need to give every child a fair chance to succeed regardless of background or circumstance.
“Imagine a world where every child has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive,” Utaka said. “At the John Utaka Foundation, we are dedicated to turning that vision into reality.”
The John Utaka Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has been at the forefront of youth empowerment and community development in Nigeria. Founded by John Chukwudi Utaka, JUF continues to promote education, sportsmanship, and social inclusion through several impactful initiatives.
Key Focus Areas
-
Football Development: The Foundation runs a football academy to nurture young talents, instill discipline, and encourage teamwork.
-
Sports Tournaments: It organizes local and international competitions to promote unity, excellence, and exposure for young athletes.
-
Community Support: JUF provides donations such as sports equipment, school materials, food, and other essentials to disadvantaged children and families.
Utaka called on individuals, corporate bodies, and international partners to support the Foundation’s mission.
“Every donation helps us sustain and expand our programmes,” he said. “Together, we can build a brighter future for Nigeria and Africa’s next generation. Every naira counts.”
Upcoming Project: John Utaka Foundation Football Tour
As part of its 2025 initiatives, the Foundation is raising funds for a football and educational tour to France — giving young male and female footballers international exposure and cultural exchange opportunities.
“This tour goes beyond football — it’s about growth, learning, and showcasing Nigerian talent on the world stage,” Utaka explained.
In recent years, the Foundation has partnered with institutions like Newgate University, Minna, and Brighter Schools, Niger State, allowing student-athletes to balance education with sports. It has also signed a collaboration agreement with ASPTT Montpellier of France to advance football development and youth recruitment programs.
Utaka appealed to the public for collective support:
“Imagine if 100,000 Nigerians each donated just ₦1,000 — together, we could transform countless lives. We are calling on 500,000 Nigerians to support this dream.”
