In an exciting collaboration aimed at promoting health and well-being in women's football, the Joe Nwiloh Heart Foundation, in conjunction with the Nigerian Women Football League, proudly announced the launch of the “Heartbeat of Soccer” initiative on May 25th, 2024.

The initiative, which was part of the activities lined up for the NWFL's Super6 tournament in Yenagoa,  Bayelsa State, brought together participants from the tournament, including players, coaches, and administrators representing esteemed teams such as Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens, and Nasarawa Amazons.

As part of the program, all participants underwent a series of comprehensive health screenings, including ECG tests, blood pressure checks, cholesterol assessments, and fasting blood sugar tests. These screenings were designed with the goal of early detection of potential substrates for lethal cardiac arrhythmias, which can pose significant risks, including sudden cardiac arrest and even death on the field.

Moreover, in a proactive measure to equip participants with life-saving skills, CPR training sessions were conducted. This initiative aims to empower all involved with the knowledge and abilities to effectively respond in the event of a cardiac emergency, potentially saving lives.

The “Heartbeat of Soccer” initiative embodies a commitment to fostering stronger, healthier champions both on and off the field. Through initiatives like these, the Joe Nwiloh Heart Foundation and the Nigerian Women Football League continue to demonstrate their dedication to the well-being and success of athletes across Nigeria.
