The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong warning to tertiary institutions that fail to submit their matriculation lists, stating that such institutions will not have their admissions for the 2024 and 2025 academic sessions approved.

 

The warning follows a directive from the Federal Ministry of Education issued a few years ago, mandating all tertiary institutions to submit their matriculation lists to JAMB to combat the increasing problem of illegal admissions.

 

Speaking during a meeting with Admission Desk Officers, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said, according to the board’s bulletin, “Institutions, which fail to submit their matriculation list for the 2022 and 2023 admissions, should not have their admissions approved for the 2024 and 2025 admission exercises.”

 

While granting a concession for 2024 admissions—because some institutions are still in the process—Oloyede stressed that all must comply once the process concludes.

 

The Registrar also warned that defaulters would face stiff sanctions, saying, “Erring institutions will be made scapegoats, with appropriate penalties to be announced in due course.” He revealed that such institutions would be invited to a meeting, and affiliate institutions would be summoned alongside their parent institutions where applicable, to be informed of the penalties.

 

He further directed that advertisements be placed in major newspapers to alert institutions that their admissions will not be approved if they fail to meet the requirement.

 

Admission Desk Officers were urged to ensure full compliance with the directive on submitting matriculation lists.
