The Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development held a heartfelt farewell for Permanent Secretary Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi on Friday, October 4, 2024, as he formally handed over his duties to Mr. Lawrence Irimiya Shammah, the most senior director of the organization. This transition follows Danladi’s remarkable 35 years of dedicated service in the Nasarawa State Civil Service.

Danladi’s career has left an indelible mark on the Ministry, culminating in his appointment as Permanent Secretary by Governor Abdullahi Sule on May 13, 2023. He officially assumed his role on June 20, 2023, serving until his retirement on October 4, 2024. His tenure was characterized by exceptional leadership, vision, and a steadfast commitment to public service, earning him respect from colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Reflecting on his journey, Danladi remarked, “Every journey has a beginning and an end. Today marks a significant milestone as I conclude 35 years of dedicated service. I look back with pride and gratitude for the opportunity to serve our State and nation.”

He expressed appreciation to God and all those who supported his achievements. “Glory be to God for His guidance and blessings throughout this chapter of my life. I extend my deepest gratitude to my family, close associates, and especially to His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, for the honor of serving the State in various capacities.”

Danladi acknowledged the mentorship of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, and expressed gratitude to the State Executive Council, particularly to Commissioner Hon. Jafaru Ango, for creating a supportive work environment. He also thanked his colleagues, including the Head of Service, Barr. Abigail Waya, for their professionalism and dedication.

“I leave the service fulfilled,” he concluded, looking forward to the next chapter of his life.

During the handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s Board Room in Lafia, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, praised Danladi for his invaluable contributions. “He has been an asset to this Ministry and to Nasarawa State. Though he may be leaving the Civil Service, his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Head of Service Barr. Abigail Waya paid tribute to Danladi’s exemplary service, highlighting his kindness, wisdom, and commitment to excellence. “As he embarks on this well-deserved retirement, he leaves behind a legacy that will inspire future generations of public servants.”

In a symbolic gesture, Danladi formally handed over the mantle to Mr. Lawrence Irimiya Shammah, who pledged to uphold Danladi’s legacy. This ceremony marked a historic moment, as it was the first time that a sitting Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries from other ministries attended a handover for a retiring Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Among the dignitaries present were the Commissioner for Special Duties, Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo Itake, and other Permanent Secretaries from various ministries, as well as representatives from the sports community and the media.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of an Award of Excellence from the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State Chapter, and memorable photographs capturing the significant occasion.
