Former Nigeria defender, Ben Iroha, has heaped praises on the leadership of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL for Smooth and massively improved domestic football league in Nigeria, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Iroha said it has never happened in Nigeria before that the fixtures have religiously ran as scheduled without postponements and squabbles.

"I played in the Nigeria league before. I know how it used to be. But now, things have changed. The first round of the league is almost over and there are no fixture pile ups here and there", Iroha, began when he spoke with Exclusivenews.com.ng from his base in Texas, USA.

"Besides, except some isolated issues which the organisers promptly tackled as soon as they happened, I think we've never had it so good before and it's credit to the NPFL leadership under Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye.

"I don't know him in person but I must commend him for a good job. I must also commend the his team --NPFL Management-- they have done a good job so far".

The former Enyimba, Iwuanyanwu Nationale and Flash Flamingoes of Benin wing-back who was Heartland Assistant Coach when they reached the 2009 CAF Champions League final, advised the NPFL leadership to raise the domestic top flight presence on television so as to make it more commercially attractive.

"No doubt the league is now on television. This is good. But there is room for more television coverage of the league. By so doing, more investors will come in. After all, the quality of the games have improved", Iroha, who assisted Coach Yemi Tella to win the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup in South Korea concluded.
