Inside Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis’ Star-Studded New Year’s Eve Wedding in Perth
New details have emerged from the New Year’s Eve wedding of football superstars Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis, as friends, family and teammates reflect on a celebration that blended elegance, emotion and plenty of dancing.
The sporting power couple tied the knot in Kerr’s hometown of Perth, with images from the day steadily appearing on social media. Kerr, captain of the Matildas, and Mewis, who plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC and the U.S. Women’s National Team, also shared personal moments from the ceremony on Instagram, offering fans a closer look at their milestone day.
For the ceremony, Mewis stunned in an off-white beaded gown featuring a corset-style bodice and a flowing sheer skirt. One of the most touching moments came as Kerr’s father walked her down the aisle, cradling the couple’s seven-month-old son, Jagger Mewis Kerr, in his arms.
Mewis then made her way down the aisle to join Kerr at the altar, where the pair exchanged vows and said “I do” in front of more than 100 guests.
The guest list reflected the couple’s global football connections, with teammates flying in from around the world to celebrate. Several Matildas stars were in attendance, including Alanna Kennedy, Caitlin Foord, Katie McCabe, Emily Van Egmond, Steph Catley, and Mackenzie Arnold, many of whom shared snapshots from the day on social media.
Following the ceremony, the celebrations quickly shifted into party mode. The Matildas players were seen taking selfies together before joining the newlyweds on the dance floor, soaking up the chance to reunite off the pitch.
As the clock ticked toward the New Year, Kerr and Mewis’ wedding marked not just the start of 2026, but the beginning of a new chapter for one of football’s most celebrated couples.
