The Nigeria National League (NLO) has announced key adjustments for the upcoming season following resolutions from the recently concluded Extraordinary Congress.

 

The Congress, convened to address pressing issues in league preparation and stakeholder concerns, approved the following changes:

To give clubs sufficient time to complete documentation and fulfill financial obligations, the registration deadline has been extended by two weeks.

This extension is final, and all clubs are strongly encouraged to use this period to avoid last-minute complications or possible exclusion from the season.

In response to feedback from club owners regarding logistics, travel costs, and administrative challenges, the NLO will revert to the Stadium League Format for the 2026 season.

 

Matches will now be played at designated neutral stadiums, as was traditionally practiced, easing the financial and operational burden on individual clubs. The previously proposed alternative format has been postponed until the 2027 season.

These decisions underscore the NLO Board’s commitment to listening to stakeholders and ensuring a competitive, sustainable, and economically viable league season for all participants.

 

Detailed schedules for the neutral stadiums and updated fixtures will be released via official NLO channels in the coming days.
