Imo Striker Queens wrapped up the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship in emphatic fashion on Sunday, securing promotion to the NWFL Premiership with a dominant 7-1 victory over Moje Queens in Abiriba.

 

The Owerri-based side, who had already established themselves as Group B2 favourites, delivered a ruthless performance to end their campaign with a perfect record — four wins in four games, collecting the maximum 12 points and scoring freely throughout the tournament.

 

Braces from Osinachi Ugbala and Pattra Oparanmegwa, complemented by strikes from Nmesoma Amaechi, Anastasia Uzor, and Anoke James, capped off a brilliant tournament for the Queens from Imo State. Toyin Oyewole scored a late consolation for Moje Queens, who finished bottom of the group.

 

The result sealed Imo Striker Queens’ place in next season’s NWFL Premiership — the top tier of women’s football in Nigeria — alongside Sunshine Queens, Castmog Ladies, and Ahudiyannem Queens, all group winners in their respective zones.

Imo Striker Queens emerged as the most dominant side of the entire NWFL Championship, not only finishing unbeaten but also boasting the highest goal tally. Delta Babes secured second place in the group after a 2-1 victory over Osun Babes earlier on Sunday, thanks to goals from Mary Samuel and Ifeoma Damian, which overturned an early own goal by Hope Chidinma Plus.
