Imo State Government don ban graduation party for nursery and Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) students, say dem wan reduce money wey parents dey spend and make children face their books well-well.

 

Commissioner for Education, Prof. Bernard Ikegwuoha, talk this one for memo wey dem send give parents, guardians and school owners on August 15, 2025. The new rule go start to dey work immediately.

 

According to the Commissioner, na only Primary 6 and SSS3 students go fit do graduation party, as e follow the 6-3-3-4 education system wey Nigeria dey use.

 

He talk say:

“The Ministry wan make sure say better and functional education reach all pikin for the state. Because of that, graduation ceremony and party for Kindergarten, Nursery and JSS3 students don stop. We wan make people focus on real academic success, not party.”

 

Prof. Ikegwuoha also yan about how private and church schools dey change textbook every year, wey dey cause wahala for parents pocket. He say schools must use government-approved textbook for minimum of four years, so that other pikin for same house fit still use am.

 

“School owners must stop to dey change textbook anyhow,” he warn.

“If dem follow the approved book list for four years, e go help parents, reduce money wey dem dey spend, and also make learning stable for children.”

 

He talk say all these steps na to make education for Imo State better, cheaper, and more useful for students, parents and the general public.
