Abia Warriors ended the 2024/2025 season on a high, clinching their first-ever CAF Confederations Cup slot. This historic achievement is thanks to Chairman John Obuh and Coach Imama Amapakabo, who guided the team with vision and discipline.

Now, rumors are swirling that Imama could leave for Kano Pillars, even though he still has a contract with Abia Warriors. This news is unsettling, especially as the team is already preparing for pre-season games in Uyo, a journey they embarked upon yesterday and the tactician is yet to report to camp.

Fans are disappointed and anxious, feeling this is a setback just when the club needs everyone united for their continental debut. Many believe losing Imama now could disrupt the squad’s momentum especially having meticulously orchestrated the recent players recruitment in a bid to establish a high level of competition on the continent, moreso pointing out the fact that imama hasn't told the club chairman of his intentions to leave which he should have done professionally. 

And for the records the said Imama Amapakabo signed 2 years contract with the Umuahia based outfit, he's exhausted one year and still has a remaining one year running. 

It's a nationwide outcry to the NFF and league organisers to make a timely intervention ensuring Abia Warriors total concentration and good representation on the continent. 

Efforts to reach Imama have failed so far, leaving supporters in suspense. Everyone is hoping for a quick resolution so the team can focus fully on their big CAF adventure. 

If the alleged feelers emanating from kano breeding turbulence in the camp of the warriors is anything to go by, then it could turn out to be a tale of "ignorantly shooting oneself on the foot" because Abia Warriors continental engagement goes beyond that of a state representation, it's a nationwide affair.
