I'm Here To Ensure That Edel FC Survive Relegation --------Sylvanus Okpalla Declares After 2-1 Win Vs Ijelle FC

Sylvanus,'Quick Silver' Okpalla, Head Coach of Edel FC has declared that his mission at the NNL side is to ensure it's survival in the second tier domestic league, Nigeria National League, NNL, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
63-year-old Okpalla who was part of the then Green Eagles squad that won the 1980 Nations Cup in Lagos after a 3-0 defeat of Algeria in the final on March 22, spoke after Edel FC came from behind to edge Ijelle FC, Enugu 2-1 in an NNL Oriental Derby at Awka City Stadium, on Saturday.
After wasting a handful of scoring opportunities, including a penalty, Edel FC defender headed the ball into his own net in a bid to give his goalkeeper a back pass.
Justus Ohanu was to later restore parity for the 'Quick Silver' boys mid way into the second half before and Izuchukwu Mbah's 89th minute free kick took a slight deflection from the wall and into the net for Edel's match winner.
And an obviously elated Okpalla declared later that survival of the club is possible and that it was for that purpose he came.
"We'll, I'm happy that we won this (game). But it's not yet a done deal yet for us. We still have lots of games to play, about six games.es, so we now have to start thinking and preparing for how we should do well in the next game. That's what is important. This game this evening, is now behind us", the former Uniao and Nacional of Portugal forward began.
On his confidence about Edel FC Relegation Survival with only six games remaining in the fixtures, the former Rangers International ace responded confidently that he is the club to ensure they were not relegated.
"That's why I'm here. You know that out of 30 points in the first round of the season, they got only five points. So, it's not, everybody that could summon the courage to accept this job, this responsibility.
"It's only someone who has confidence in himself, in his abilities and in what he's doing that can take up this challenge. And from what I'm hearing, a team (1472 FC) has been relegated by the NNL, meaning that the three points Edel FC got from their victory over the now relegated club has been chalked off.
"This means that Edel FC had only two points from their first round games. So the points that Edel FC have now are the 10 points they have amassed since this second round that I came in. In other words, they have 12 points now.
"I'm here to ensure they didn't go down. I'm working towards that and I'm confident we'll get the job done".
Following 1472 FC removal from the league by NNL Edel FC now place 8th on the 10-team log with nine (9) points.
Edel will travel to group leaders, Warri Wolves for next weekend's fixture
