Ikenne to Host 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six Tournament


Ikenne, Ogun State, has been officially announced as the host city for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six Tournament. This marks a return of the six-team event to the South West region for the first time since the 2021 edition held in Ijebu Ode.

The season-defining title playoff will take place from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 17, 2025, at the Remo Stars Stadium, home ground of Remo Stars Ladies. The tournament will feature six elite teams battling it out over five matchdays in a round-robin format. 

Five teams have already secured their spots, including. 
- *Rivers Angels*: One of the powerhouses in Nigerian women's football
- *Nasarawa Amazons*: A strong contender in the league
- *Bayelsa Queens*: A consistent performer in the NWFL
- *Edo Queens*: The defending champions, who have been unbeaten in the current season
- *Remo Stars Ladies*: The home team, playing at their own stadium
- *Final Spot*: To be decided after the April 30 showdown between Robo Queens and Naija Ratels

NWFL Chairperson, Ms. Nkechi Obi, congratulated Ikenne and Ogun State on being selected to host the tournament, stating that it's a significant opportunity to further stimulate the revival of women's football in the state. The winner of the tournament will represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Qualifiers for a chance to play in the CAF Women’s Champions League and the inaugural 2026 FIFA Women’s Club Championship.
