Ifeoma Onumonu Scores First Goal in Montpellier’s 7-0 Victory Over Guingamp
Nigerian forward Ifeoma Onumonu netted her first goal for Montpellier in a dominant 7-0 win against Guingamp in the French women’s league on Saturday.
Onumonu opened the scoring in the ninth minute, capitalizing on an assist from Oceane Deslandes at the Stade Bernard Gasset Terrain. Cameroon’s Nina Ngueleu added a second goal at the half-hour mark, followed by a brace from Lea Khelifi in the 38th and 41st minutes, extending Montpellier’s lead to 4-0.
Onumonu also assisted Ngueleu for the fifth goal, showcasing her playmaking skills. Kethna Louis and Rose Kadzere rounded out the scoring for the home side.
After contributing a goal and an assist, Onumonu was substituted for Kadzere in the 70th minute. With this victory, Montpellier sits sixth in the league with 10 points after six matches. They will face Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris FC in their next encounter on November 9, 2024.
