Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and Captain Vincent Enyeama has bemoaned the way he was treated out of the National Team after serving meritoriously. 

Enyeama who was recently honored with a Doctorate Degree at the University of Uyo said in an interview that the incident made him to shun everything about Nigeria Football. 

"Sincerely, I've not been following Nigerian football right from the day I left and with due respect, I was really treated like shit. I mean I was treated like a piece of used material, so I decided to put a block between me and the National Team and that went on for long. It's now that I'm begining to follow the goings-on from a distance. But I really put a stop to watching Nigerian football and the National Team because I was deeply hurt. It's now I'm really becoming gradually at ease. I think I have made personal changes to move on and change chapters and pages to slowly reconcile myself with the system. To state the fact, I can't really say much about the National Team and the goalkeeping and all of that because I am not watching them".

It could be recalled that Vincent Enyeama was thrown out of the Super Eagles Camp by the then Technical Adviser Sunday Oliseh, for reporting to camp after attending his late mother's burial. 

Enyeama who now run an exquisite and luxurious  Vinpy Hotel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said the high point of his career was winning the 2013 AFCON in South Africa and the CAF Champions League with Enyimba in 2003 and 2004.

Enyeama, however has an advice for upcoming players saying 
"Without positive mindset, you can't achieve anything in life. That's the truth. You can never be negative and achieve positive. Positive attracts positive, while negative attracts negative, so it's just the energy you give that you will get back. To God be the glory, I've been on that trail and it's really taking me through. I will encourage the young ones to stay true to themselves, believe in their future, believe in their dreams, never give up, fight for all you've got ... that's been my stuff" he concluded

After making his debut for the Nigeria national football team against Kenya in May 2002, Enyeama went ahead to play 101 matches for the Super Eagles. 

He was selected for the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a cover for Ike Shorunmu. He made his competitive debut in that tournament, keeping a clean sheet against England in the third group match. 

On 26 March 2015, Enyeama won his 100th cap for Nigeria in a 1–0 loss to Uganda. He retired from international football on 8 October 2015.

He is a Christian from Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Enyeama is married and a father of three.
