Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has come out swinging against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) probe into his alleged diversion of N1.3 trillion. Okowa claims the allegations are "malicious and politically motivated" and that he knows who's behind the probe.

According to Okowa, the accusations are baseless and unreasonable, implying that he would have had to misappropriate N16 to N20 billion monthly for 96 months to reach the alleged amount. He described this as a "deliberate attempt to mislead".
