Governor Sim Fubara has sparked reactions following comments he made while delivering a speech at the New Telegraph Awards/Dinner Night.

 

Addressing attendees at the event, Fubara stated, “I choose to be weak because I want peace in my state, weak because I need to survive and to protect the things that are not only dear to me but to the nation.”

 

The Rivers State governor explained that what some critics may interpret as a softer political stance is, in his view, a deliberate strategy aimed at maintaining stability and protecting the collective interest of the people.

 

According to him, prioritizing peace remains essential to governance and long-term development in the state.

 

Dedicates Award to Wike

 

Fubara also used the occasion to dedicate his award to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whom he referred to as his “Oga.”

 

“I want to also dedicate this award to my Oga, the FCT Minister, who discovered me,” he said.

 

The remark has generated discussions within political circles, given the complex dynamics that have characterized the relationship between both leaders in recent times.
