How Tinubu Marks His 74th Birthday
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his 74th birthday, opting for a low-key observance in line with what he described as the “mood of the nation.”
In a heartfelt thank-you message to Nigerians, the President expressed gratitude for the outpouring of goodwill, prayers, and support he received from citizens across the country.
“As I clock another year, I’m filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity to serve this great nation,” Tinubu said. “I want to thank Nigerians for their messages, love and prayers.”
The President also acknowledged individuals and groups who placed congratulatory messages in newspapers and sponsored airtime on radio and television in his honour, describing their gestures as deeply appreciated.
Explaining his decision to keep the celebration subdued, Tinubu noted that it aligns with his long-standing personal tradition of marking birthdays in accordance with the prevailing national circumstances.
“Consistent with my tradition to mark my birthday in line with the mood of the nation each year, I resolved to also observe this year’s birthday low key,” he stated.
Tinubu used the occasion to call for unity and collective effort in nation-building, urging Nigerians to remain committed to strengthening the country.
“Let us continue to work together to build a stronger nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa,” he added.
The President’s modest celebration comes amid ongoing economic and political challenges, with many observers interpreting the gesture as a sign of sensitivity to the current realities faced by citizens.
