The last may not have been heard of the recent monumental failure by team Nigeria at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. 
Nigeria presented 89 athletes but failed to win a single medal despite a huge 12-billion-naira investment by the federal government in the Paris leg of the championship. 
 
There were gargantuan technical and administrative failures by team Nigeria in the lead-up to the Olympics and at the games itself. 
National women's 100 meters champion, Favour Ofili’s name was famously left out of the 100 meters event. Nigerian athletes borrowed equipment to participate in some events, and some even had to rely on public donations to get kitted. Disparity in amounts paid to athletes as training grants.
  
These culminated in a medalless outing for Team Nigeria as athletes were unhappy over the shabby treatment and lack of concern shown towards them by Team Nigeria officials. 

The reason for the debacles has now been narrowed down to the incompetent aids that surround the minister, John Owan Enoh. 

A staff of the sports ministry who spoke on condition of anonymity suggests the minister has incompetent aids who see their positions as compensations.
His speaks; 
"My former boss surrounded himself with experts in the areas he felt needed to be worked on to help him succeed in office. He did not employ aids because they were his cousins.  
"They could not allow their principal to fail, because he fails, they fail. If they fail, he fails. That was the model the minister worked with. 

"Enoh’s aids don’t give a dam if their boss fails, they see their positions as a right and you can see it in the way they relate with us in the ministry. 
"Sometimes when you advise them, they see it as interference, some told me that I should please come and collect their job if I want to do their job for them. 
“We understand the mindsets of athletes, they don’t.  
“If you treat these athletes right, if you show care and love, compassion about what they are going through, personally and otherwise, they will climb Mount Everest for you without a rope. 
This minister is set up to fail.
