As Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, prepare to face their Senegalese counterparts today in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the team has recorded a confidence-boosting 2–1 victory over Nigeria Women Premier League side, FC Robo, in a friendly match.

The encounter formed part of the Falconets’ build-up to the crucial fixture against Senegal scheduled for Saturday, 7 February 2026, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

The Falconets had earlier arrived in Ibadan on Monday, 27 January 2026, to intensify preparations for the tie. However, the venue for the match was moved from Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, to Abeokuta due to the poor condition of the Ibadan stadium.

Following their arrival in Abeokuta, the team engaged FC Robo in a high-profile friendly match designed to help the technical crew assess players’ performance, tactical execution, and overall match fitness ahead of the qualifier.

Reacting after the match, Head Coach Moses Aduku expressed satisfaction with the result but noted that there were still areas that required improvement.

“So far, so good. We won the game, but there are still little adjustments to be made ahead of Saturday’s match against Senegal,” Aduku said.

He also praised the fighting spirit displayed by the players, particularly their response in scoring the winning goal.

“The way the girls responded to score the winning goal was very encouraging. It showed character, resilience, and determination in our quest to qualify,” he added.

The friendly victory has further boosted confidence within the Falconets’ camp as they gear up for the decisive encounter against Senegal.
