Super Falcons and Nigeria midfielder, Peace Efih’s received the news of her mother death while on national assignment. 

According to her, Mrs  Rosemary Efih  died after a brief illness on Tuesday evening.

The Super Falcons midfielder had on Monday arrived the Nigeria camp from her base in Portugal, for Thursday’s Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers against Cape Verde.

On recieving the heartbreaking news, the Sporting Braga star took to social media to express her devastation over the death of her mother on Tuesday.

REST ON,” she wrote on X.

Although the nature of the illness wasn’t revealed but the player will surely have nurse some heartbreaks while playing Cape Varde last week in Abuja.

The Braga midfielder who wasn’t part of the initial squad list released by coach Justin Madugu got an invitation to fill the space left by injured Halimatu Ayinde.

Efih had played for Israeli Ligat Nashim club FC Kiryat Gat before completing her switch to the Portuguese side.

She previously played for Edo Queens and Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Still, in search of her first league goal in Portugal, she scored her solitary goal for Braga in the Portuguese Cup against her compatriot Christy Ucheibe’s SL Benfica.
