Bayelsa Queens secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pacesetters Queens on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

 

The Ibadan-based side had chances to score twice, hitting the woodwork and narrowly missing opportunities, but it was Glory Edet who broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, handing Bayelsa Queens the win and moving them into second place in Group A with 28 points.

 

Despite their attacking efforts, Pacesetters Queens were unable to convert their chances in the second half, as Bayelsa’s defense and goalkeeper kept them at bay. The defeat dealt a blow to the home side’s ambitions of remaining in contention for the NWFL Premiership title.

 

With this victory, Bayelsa Queens have now won 9 of their last 11 league matches, keeping them firmly on course for a spot in the 2025/26 NWFL Super Six.

 

“The magic was the determination of my girls. They deserved the win today because it was not an easy task,” said Bayelsa Queens Technical Adviser Whyte Ogbonda.

 

He added, “It was one of our best wins of the season—not just in terms of performance but in desire and heart. I must commend the fighting spirit of my girls. Their resilience and teamwork were amazing, and they played as a unit.”

 

Bayelsa Queens will next face Ibom Angels at Samson Saisai Stadium, Ovom, Yenagoa, on April 8, 2026, in what promises to be another exciting showdown.
