How Aiyedatiwa Won In Ondo State
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has been declared the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Aiyedatiwa, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won in all 18 local government areas of the state by a wide margin.
According to the Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Aiyedatiwa polled a total of 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 117,845 votes.
Aiyedatiwa's victory was described as a landslide, with the APC candidate winning in all local government areas. The PDP candidate, Ajayi, came second in the election.
The election was contested by 17 political parties, but the main contest was between Aiyedatiwa of the APC and Ajayi of the PDP.
Aiyedatiwa's victory has been congratulated by notable figures, including former President Bola Tinubu and Senator Barau Jibrin. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also been commended for conducting a peaceful and credible election.
