The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, received the House of Representatives Committee on Pensions on an official oversight visit to its Abuja headquarters.

Led by Committee Chairman, Honourable Jallo Hussaini Mohammed, the visit provided an opportunity to assess PTAD’s operations and review its 2024 budget performance as well as the first half of 2025.

In her welcome address, PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, expressed appreciation to the Committee for its consistent support and collaboration. She highlighted the Directorate’s achievements, including the successful implementation of the 20/28% pension increment (with effect from January 2024), which was fully captured in the September 2024 payroll, alongside the settlement of accrued arrears.

Odunaiya further explained that PTAD continues to service arrears of the N32,000 increment as well as the 10.66% and 12.95% adjustments through prudent management and savings from the pension sub-head. She disclosed that the Directorate had also secured Presidential approval for the inclusion of critical pension-related items in the 2026 budget proposal. These cover funding for the full implementation of the N32,000 increment, settlement of outstanding liabilities, the proposed pension harmonization policy, and health insurance coverage for Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) pensioners.

While reaffirming PTAD’s commitment to protecting the welfare of pensioners, Odunaiya acknowledged the invaluable oversight role of the National Assembly and called for continued support in addressing lingering challenges.

Responding, Honourable Jallo Hussaini Mohammed commended PTAD for its strides in enhancing pension payments and improving service delivery. He assured that the Committee would sustain close collaboration with the Directorate to ensure the welfare of DBS pensioners remains a national priority.
