The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives has clarified that it did not accused the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) of involvement in a N32 billion revenue leak scandal or failure to comply with Treasury Single Account protocols.

Chairman Bamidele Salam stated that the committee focuses on safeguarding public interests, particularly in revenue generation, and did not made allegations of financial misconduct against NUPRC.

 
The clarification came after media reports alleged a N32.151 billion revenue leak in NUPRC's revenue records between 2015 and 2022, and approximately N909.3 million transferred to private accounts without adhering to TSA protocols. However, Bamidele emphasized that the committee conducts thorough scrutiny and doesn't issue conclusions without extensive evaluation.

NUPRC Chief Executive Gbenga Komolafe assured the committee of the commission's adherence to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) of 2021 and provided necessary documents to counter allegations. The NUPRC attributed unremitted sums to funding arrangements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and clarified discrepancies in Remita data.
