The 2025 edition of the AMAC Football Coaches Council August Vacation Youth Championship concluded in thrilling fashion on Saturday, September 13, at the Area 3 Playing Pitch in Abuja, showcasing top-tier grassroots football and unearthing the next generation of Nigerian football stars.

The tournament, which featured Under-13 and Under-15 categories, delivered drama, talent, and memorable moments that lit up Abuja’s football community.

In the Under-13 final, Horvel Prime Football Academy displayed dominance, defeating Super Tech FA with a commanding 3–0 victory. The standout performer of the match was John Godwin, who struck twice with clinical finishes. Belah Fortune added a third to seal the win and secure the championship trophy for Horvel Prime.

The Under-15 final proved to be a nail-biter as Sporting Dreams FA and Assured Hope FA locked horns in a tense goalless draw. With neither side able to find the breakthrough in regulation time, the match went to penalties. In a dramatic shootout, Assured Hope FA held their nerve to clinch a 7–6 victory, emerging as champions of the U-15 category.

The championship also honored outstanding individual talents:

• Under-13 Top Scorer: Ahmed Umar (Standard FA) – 5 goals

• U-13 MVP: Belah Fortune (Horvel Prime FA)

• Under-15 Top Scorer: Osaro Samson (Sporting Dreams FA) – 5 goals

• U-15 MVP: Damel Siman (Assured Hope FA)

The grand finale attracted top football stakeholders and notable dignitaries. Representing the Special Guest, Batholome David, Chairman of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Coach Godwin Bamigboye delivered a goodwill message commending the council’s efforts in grassroots development and encouraging sustained investment in youth football.

• Coach Bala Nikyu – Former Super Falcons and Nasarawa United Technical Adviser

• Akeem Aregbe – President, Wazobia FC

• Hon. Hucinth Tunuoe – President, Horvel Prime FA

• Chief Aleke O. – President, Super Tech FA

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Coach Kenny Owojori, leader of the AMAC Football Coaches Council, praised all teams, coaches, match officials, and supporters for their contributions to the success of the event.

 

He revealed that several outstanding players have been shortlisted for promotion, as the council continues its mission to identify, develop, and expose raw talent in Abuja and its environs.

 

“This tournament is more than competition; it’s a platform for building futures,” Owojori said.

With Horvel Prime FA and Assured Hope FA lifting the top prizes and rising stars like Ahmed Umar, Belah Fortune, Osaro Samson, and Damel Siman making headlines, the 2025 AMAC Youth Championship has not only delivered excitement but also reaffirmed the growing strength of grassroots football in the FCT.

 

As the football community reflects on another successful edition, attention now turns to how these emerging talents will be supported and developed in the coming months.
