Renowned Aba based business mogul and philanthropist, Hon. Moses Ibe Oba has lent his voice on the plea for leniency on the traders whose genuine businesses were affected by the recent raid by  National Agency For Food Drugs Administration And Control (NAFDAC) on the activities of some unscrupulous elements in the market who take delight in endearing the lives and well-being of their fellow humans through the production and distribution of fake, counterfeit and expired commodities

 

Speaking to the media Hon. M I  Oba appealed to NAFDAC to ensure that the  businesses of genuine traders who's shops were sealed as NAFDAC was trying to bust the perpetrators of the ugly act are reopened.

"It is so alarming how some people remain determined to endanger lives of others just to maximize profit, I totally condemn the activities of these unscrupulous elements ewho's illicit activities has brought shame and negative stereotypes to the market and the entire city and by extension the state, I totally urge NAFDAC to go ahead and fish out those involved in these acts of criminality and ensure that the a made to face the law" he said.

Hon. M.I Oba went ahead to make a passionate plea to NAFDAC to ensure that the shops and businesses of genuine traders there at line 9 are unsealed so as to enable them go about their lawful activities. " I want to plead with NAFDAC to tamper justice with mercy and ensure that traders whose businesses were affected by the total closure of zone 9, zone 13 and zone 15 are unsealed so as to enable them go about their lawful activities". he said.

 

It could be recalled that NAFDAC raided the Eziukwu market on December 2024 where the agency  uncovered a wide range of counterfeit and adulterated products, including alcoholic beverages, yogurt, carbonated drinks, chips, dry gin, and other consumables.These items were found either being manufactured in unhygienic conditions or stored in areas where expired goods were being re-labelled with new expiration dates for redistribution to unsuspecting consumers.     

Thereby making NAFDAC describe the Market as a major center for the production and distribution of fake and substandard goods across south south and south East.
