Governor Alex Otti of Abia State on Saturday  announced plans to revisit the 2011 disengagement of 154 state workers, mostly teachers, from the civil service.

He made the declaration on Saturday during a reception held in his honour by the Anambra Development Unions Association, Aba branch.

He described the disengagement of none indigenes in Abia as  illegal.He said the state’s head of service would be directed to urgently review the matter for possible redress.

Mr Otti hinted that those under 65 might be re-engaged on contract, especially given the teacher shortage across the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, inclusivity, and correcting the wrongs of previous governments.

“For those outside the age bracket, we’ll find fair compensation mechanisms,” the governor assured.

Speaking to the media at the event, a stakeholder of the Anambra state indigenes in Aba Hon. Moses Ibe Oba  who is the chairman of Eziukwu road market Aba and also the chairman of chairmen of all the markets in Abia, praised Governor Otti for his efforts and developmental strides in Abia, he thanked the governor for always extending an olive branch to None-indigenes in Abia.

Hon. Oba assured the governor that Anambra indigenes in Abia would continue to be law-abiding and also assured him of their unalloyed support ahead of the 2027 elections.
