FCT Female Football recently held a Football Championship with the sole aim of identifying Talents who will represent FCT in National and International Female Football Competition.

The Tournament which  was held within the  Week ago, was sponsored by The Founder, "Her Game Foundations", Ajema Pat Ayegba. 

Ayegba is a Board Member, FCT Football Association and the Head, FCT Female Football Committee. She stated that upon assumption in her new post, she realized that Female Football in FCT is almost going into extinction and needs to be rejuvenated.  Having this in mind, she embarked in certain assignment by touring the 6 Area Councils in FCT, where she discovered that some of these Female Athletes have got Talents but have not been given opportunity to showcase their talents. Hence the reason for organizing this tournament.

According to her, it has provided an opportunity to identify those with exceptional talents who can represent FCT in National and International Championships.
Ayegba maintained that 16 different Football Team s or Clubs participated in this Tournament. Each of them got Jerseys for all their footballers. She also disclosed that each Team were given 2 Balls. All of the Balls and Complete Jerseys are courtesy of  "Her Game Foundation".

Ayegba   revealed that Trophies, Medals and Cash Gifts were given to those that  placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the Medals Table.
She noted that Awards were also  given to the highest Goal Scorer, Best Player and the Best Goal Keeper. 

According to her, this is the First Edition, and it gives her a sense of fulfilment seeing that the athletes are so elated participating in a championship as this. She hopes the next Edition would be better

The Tournament was  rounded up on Sunday, the 07th of July, 2024.

At the Semi Finals, featuring Josiah Angels and Paul E Team, and Fosla Academy and Basic Queens. Paul E Team emerged in its Match and met  Fosla Academy in the Finals.

Fosla Academy won by 5-2 on penalties after a goalless full time scores. 

Speaking with the Proprietor of Fosla Academy, an erstwhile  Director of FCT Sports Department, Mr. Sani Lulu Abdulahi, he noted that his passion for Football has led him into picking indigent Children from the Streets grooming them to become future Champions.  

Abdulahi stated  that in the past 14-15 year's, he has not only groomed future Champions in Football, but has offered Scholarship to about 400 Students from Primary to University Level.

Abdulahi noted that Football is the only Sports that unites Children and the Nation and so enjoins the Government to keep creating an enabling environment that would promote Football and other Sporting Activities in general.

In a chat with  the Assistant Team Manager, 
Fosla Academy, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, he revealed that the Football Athletes of Fosla Academy has represented Nigeria in CAF (Female Under 15) Championship held in Togo, in Year 2023 and they emerged as the Most Fair Play Team.

Abdulkarim affirmed that Fosla Academy also represented Nigeria in the Male Under 17 CAF Championship that was played in Morocco and were able to win ,2 Slots for Nigeria to participate in China.

Abdulkarim noted that athletes of Fosla Academy, who have been nurtured from cradle are screened when they get admitted at Nasarawa State University and those who are exceptional in Football are ultimately enrolled into "Fosla Academy Football Club" as Senior Professional Players.

In an interview with the Female Coach of Fosla Academy, Mary God's Power, who is also.a Staff of FCT Sports Department, said she is delighted that her efforts as a Coach is not in vain as her Team- FOSLA Academy emerged champions  in the Competitions.
