Hajji Liameed Honoured at 2025 Gusau/Ahlan Cup Finale in Lafia
The curtain has fallen on the 2025 Gusau/Ahlan Cup in Lafia, Nasarawa State, after days of vibrant football action and passionate displays from young talents across Nigeria. Beyond the competition on the pitch, the tournament’s closing ceremony shone a spotlight on individuals driving football’s growth in the country.
Among them was Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), who received a Special Recognition Award for his outstanding contributions to youth and football development in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos State.
Liameed’s consistent support for the Gusau/Ahlan Cup — being present at every opening and closing ceremony — was hailed as exemplary commitment. His leadership at the LSFA has been instrumental in nurturing grassroots football and providing platforms for young talents to thrive.
The award was formally presented by the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Alhaji Abdullahi A. Sule, assisted by the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau. The gesture reflected the esteem in which Liameed is held within Nigerian football administration.
More than a tournament, the Gusau/Ahlan Cup has become a stage for youth empowerment and football excellence. By celebrating figures like Liameed, the organizers reinforced the values of dedication, hard work, and vision in advancing the game.
The recognition accorded to Liameed stands as a call to action for other administrators and stakeholders to emulate his example, ensuring Nigerian football continues to flourish.
