The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, is set to declare open the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) and National League Club Owners Management Association (NACOLMA) mid-season retreat scheduled to hold this Tuesday at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, Ikenne, Ogun State.

 

The two-day retreat will bring together all 36 clubs campaigning in the 2025/26 NNL season, alongside officials of NACOLMA and the league’s governing body, under the leadership of Chairman George Aluo, for an extensive review of the first half of the season.

 

The retreat is aimed at conducting a comprehensive post-mortem of the opening stanza of the campaign, with discussions expected to shape the direction of what is widely regarded as the country’s “second most important league” ahead of the run-in phase of the season.

 

Key areas to be examined include match officiating, clubs’ conduct, and players’ performance, as the league continues its drive to strengthen professionalism and sustain positive perception capable of attracting sponsorship and strategic partnerships.

 

Speaking ahead of the event, NNL Chairman George Aluo described the retreat as a critical and strategic exercise designed to consolidate the gains recorded so far this season.

 

“It’s important to take a pause and bring every key component involved in the running of the NNL to converge at a conducive place like the impressive Remo Stars Sports Complex,” Aluo said. “This will allow us to take a thorough look at the progress we have made, identify loopholes, and address the challenges ahead of the concluding part of the season.

 

“We must commend all our partners, sponsors, and the Nigeria Football Federation for their strong support in driving the NNL to the level we are today.”

 

In addition to the NFF President, the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports is also expected to grace the retreat as a special guest, underscoring the growing importance of the NNL in Nigeria’s football development structure.
