Former Nollywood actress Grace-Charis Bassey Effah has fired back at critics who attempted to shame her for being single, delivering a strong message against societal pressure surrounding marriage.

 

Reacting to comments suggesting she should “get married so she doesn’t expire,” the actress questioned the logic behind such statements. “Is it your expire?” she asked pointedly. She further challenged the narrative by referencing failed marriages, asking whether those who marry and later divorce also “expire.”

 

Grace-Charis accused her critics of projecting their insecurities onto others, stating that they knew nothing about her personal life. She emphasized that marriage is a personal choice and priority, adding that while she respects those who value it, it does not define her worth. “If marriage is your priority, I am happy for you. Good luck,” she concluded.

 

Recall that the former Nollywood star, who previously went by the name Belinda Effah, revealed in 2025 that she had completed her United States Navy boot camp training. She also announced that she had officially become a citizen of the United States, marking a major new chapter in her life.

 

Her response has since sparked conversations online, with many applauding her confidence and stance against marriage-related stigma.
