The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu played a prominent role in restoring peace in Rivers State during the recent political crisis 

The Governor who was full of  thanks to the President  for his intervention which he said opened a series of communication channels aimed at arriving at a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

The governor added that no sacrifice was too much for him to make, saying it is the collective responsibility of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike and himself, to use their positions to advance the progress, security and well-being of the people.

He went ahead apologised to the people of the state over the recent political crisis in the state.He described the crisis as “regrettable anxieties of the last few days,” saying it was important to make sacrifices for peace to reign.

Meanwhile, Barrister Nyesom Wike  Says Impeachment is Part of Democratic Process. 

 Wike, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory  has however warned against any attempt to tamper with the political structure in Rivers.

Wike who gave the warning after a closed-door meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State. 

Wike said told  he would not be intimidated by any one for his influence in Rivers or his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as FCT minister. 

He explained that the impeachment move was not a military coup, but in line with the provision of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He dismissed the rumours going round that the fracas was born out of his interest in the finances of the state, which he dismissed as “absolute rubbish.”
