In a decisive move to restore Enyimba FC to its former glory and salvage what remains of this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League campaign, where the club currently sits 14th on the log, Alex Otti (OFR) has announced sweeping reforms aimed at stabilizing the club.

 

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, unveiled key changes designed to reposition the nine-time Nigerian champions both administratively and competitively.

 

Among the headline decisions was the appointment of Daniel Eke as the new Sporting Director of the Aba-based side, while Deutsch Gustave Emmanuel was formally presented as the new Head Coach. The restructuring signals a fresh technical direction as the club battles to climb the league table and reassert its dominance in domestic football.

 

In perhaps the most immediate relief to players and staff, Governor Otti directed the prompt payment of all outstanding salaries, sign-on fees, and other entitlements owed to players.

 

“If we can clear 58 months of salaries and entitlements owed to Abia workers, trust us to clear Enyimba FC players’ outstanding payments immediately,” the Governor declared in remarks delivered on his behalf by Engr. Emetu.

 

The statement drew applause from players, supporters, and stakeholders who have grown concerned over the club’s recent struggles on and off the pitch.

 

As part of the administrative overhaul, the club’s Accountant was relieved of his duties, with a new appointment to be announced soon. The move, officials said, is aimed at strengthening financial transparency, accountability, and restoring confidence in the club’s management structure.

 

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, assured fans that Enyimba has now become a major focus of the state government. He emphasized that necessary steps are being taken to restore proper administration and ensure consistent progress both off and on the field.

 

Also present at the event were the Vice Chairman of the club, Eric Asomugha, the Chairman of Abia Angels, players, stakeholders, and supporters, who watched as Engr. Emetu delivered the far-reaching announcements.

 

For many supporters of the “People’s Elephant,” the reforms mark a turning point. With financial obligations set to be cleared, new technical leadership in place, and tighter fiscal controls promised, optimism is gradually returning to one of Nigeria’s most decorated football institutions.
