Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has pledged his administration’s full support for the successful hosting of the 26th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games, now set to take place from 6th to 16th November 2025 at the University of Jos.

Originally scheduled for April, the event was postponed to allow for better preparation and coordination. Governor Mutfwang made the renewed commitment on Wednesday while receiving a high-level delegation from Royal CBS Group, the prime consultants for the Games, led by Mr. Khalifah Onu.

Speaking during the meeting, the governor emphasized the state’s dedication to youth development through sports, promising robust security, logistics, and infrastructural support before, during, and after the Games.

“Under my leadership, the state is committed to ensuring adequate security and logistical support during and after the upcoming NUGA 2025 Games to guarantee successful hosting of the tournament,” Governor Mutfwang said.

He noted that preparations were already underway in collaboration with the University of Jos, and expressed confidence that Plateau State would deliver a tournament of national pride.

“Our goal is not only to successfully host the event but also to use it as a platform to promote hospitality and position Plateau as a hub for sports tourism,” he added.

Mutfwang also reassured stakeholders of the state’s readiness to provide financial backing and to collaborate with partners to elevate the tournament’s visibility and impact.

“We are committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver on this mandate and transform sports into a tool for youth empowerment.”

In response, Mr. Khalifah Onu, Chairman of Royal CBS Group, expressed gratitude for the governor’s proactive involvement and for creating an enabling environment.

“The support from Plateau State is instrumental. With this level of readiness, we are confident the 26th NUGA Games will be one of the most memorable and impactful editions yet,” Onu said.

The NUGA Games, Nigeria’s premier university sports competition, brings together thousands of student-athletes from across the country to compete in multiple disciplines — fostering unity, talent discovery, and national pride.

With Plateau State’s strong commitment and strategic planning, expectations are high for a truly transformative experience in November.
