New entrants, Game Changers Football Academy, on Friday, 7 February, 2025, caused the first major upsets that had been the trademark of the domestic Cup competition following a shock 7-6 penalty kicks victory over Nationwide League One side, St Nwadinso, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

After a goalless situation at regulation time,  both teams went into penalty kicks, which provided the Game Changers platform to ulter the pre-match form books by knocking out the more experienced and favourites, St Nwadinso.

They thus set up a Quarter final showdown against Nigeria National League, NNL side, Solution FC.

The 2025 NEROS Pharmaceuticals Limited/Anambra FA Cup continues today with Olive Charles FA taking on Bishop Owen Nwokolo Football Academy, BONF, at the Awka City Stadium at 1pm.

Immediately after, Obosi United will take to the pitch against Rangels FC at 3pm at the same Awka City Stadium.

Solution FC are the defending champions of the NEROS/ANSFA Cup which has a N2m winning prize for the champions and N1m for the runners-up as well as N500, 000 for the third place winner.

NEROS Pharmaceuticals Limited has continued to sponsor the competition since 2007.
