In a strategic effort to enhance road safety administration and traffic management in Lagos State, the Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, July 11, 2025.

During the visit, the Sector Commander commended the Governor for the recent provision of two operational patrol vehicles and motorcycles, a gesture he described as crucial support for the Corps’ operations across the state.

Commander Hamzat also highlighted critical challenges affecting traffic flow, particularly:

• The persistent gridlock caused by truck movement around the Apapa and Lekki port corridors;

• The need to revisit and improve the electronic call-up system;

• The importance of joint public enlightenment campaigns;

• The need for real-time access to traffic data via the Lagos Command and Control Room;

• And the revitalization of the State Road Safety Advisory Council (SARSAC) to promote coordinated efforts among stakeholders.

In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the FRSC’s pivotal role in ensuring traffic safety, enforcing road regulations, and saving lives. He reiterated the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Corps, especially given the city's status as the commercial hub of Nigeria.

The Governor further emphasized that traffic management remains a top priority for his administration and underscored the necessity of inter-agency collaboration in achieving a safer and more efficient transport system across the state.
