The 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership returned from the festive break in emphatic fashion as Matchday Five delivered thrilling action across the country, with four teams claiming away victories in nine fixtures played on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

 

In Lagos, FC Robo Queens maintained their flawless start to the season with a narrow 1–0 win over debutants Ahudiyannem Queens. Opeyemi Ajakaye struck within seconds of kickoff, and the early goal proved decisive as the Lagos-based side recorded their fifth consecutive victory — the longest active winning streak in the league. Ahudiyannem Queens, meanwhile, remain in search of their first-ever NWFL Premiership win.

 

At Iyahmo, Osun Babes picked up a crucial 1–0 away victory against Confluence Queens, deepening the hosts’ struggles this season. Naimot Kazeem’s 62nd-minute strike sealed all three points for the visitors.

 

Former champions Rivers Angels continued their resurgence with an emphatic 3–0 away win over Adamawa Queens in Makwada. Forward Abasiofon Uwah delivered a sensational second-half performance, scoring all three goals to register the first hat-trick of the 2025/26 season.

 

In Ikenne, Nasarawa Amazons brought Remo Stars Ladies’ unbeaten run to an end with a hard-fought 1–0 victory at the Remo Stars Stadium. Ayatsea Hembafan’s early effort in the 11th minute, which ricocheted off the post before crossing the line, proved enough to settle the contest.

 

Elsewhere, Abia Angels cruised to a comfortable 2–0 win over Sunshine Queens, with Ekezie Onyedikachi and Winner David finding the back of the net. Delta Queens also impressed at home in Asaba, defeating Dannaz Ladies 2–0 thanks to goals from Amarachukwu Onuorah and Rita Tsebee.

 

Defending champions Bayelsa Queens edged Ibom Angels 2–1 in a fiercely contested South-South derby. First-half goals from Kesiena Ojiyovwi and Janet Akekeromowei gave Bayelsa Queens the advantage, despite a spirited second-half response from Helen David.

 

In Abeokuta, Ekiti Queens, playing at their adopted home ground, secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Naija Ratels FC. Ismail Zainab scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute to hand her side maximum points.

 

The only draw of the round came in Ibadan, where Pacesetter Queens and Heartland Queens played out a goalless stalemate.
