Fosla Academy Graduate Lands In Esperance, Tunisia Net
Fosla Academy star, Onuche Ogbelu, has landed in Tunisia for a three-year contract with Esperance of Tunisia.
The 2022 graduate of FOSLA Academy Karshi was an integral member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2023 AFCON in Morocco.
He played in all six matches as the National U-20 team qualified for the World Cup but inexplicably he didn’t make the final list as he was dropped a few days to the kickoff of the world championship.
Since that unfortunate incident which came to many as a rude shock, everyone was left guessing what was going on with the young prodigy who had a brief stint in Nasarawa United before their relegation to the lower division of Nigerian football.
However, the Tunisian giants yesterday announced that they have signed the immensely talented defensive and attacking midfielder for an undisclosed sum.
The Ligue One Club wrote “We warmly welcome Onuche Ogbelu and wish him a fruitful and successful career in the colour of the club”.
Speaking on Ogbelu’s transfer, Proprietor of FOSLA Academy and former NFF president, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi said the player was to go to Portugal but when the club continued to dilly-dally, a decision was taken that he should go and launch his career in Tunisia.
“A club in Portugal came for him but when they continued to procrastinate and the transfer window was about to close, we had to settle for Esperance who showed more seriousness and interest in the boy,” he said.
