Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigerian leaders to emulate Governor Alex Otti's leadership style in Abia State, citing his intentionality and preparedness in driving development. Jonathan made this call during the University of Port Harcourt's Alumni 1980s Reunion Dinner and Award ceremony in Umuahia, Abia State capital.

The former President highlighted some of Governor Otti's achievements
to include Improvement in Local Products. Jonathan noted that products made in Aba, formerly stigmatized, are now in high demand, thanks to Otti's efforts.
The governor's administration has made significant strides in road infrastructure, power, and waste management. Otti's administration has allocated 20% and 15% of the annual budget to education and health sectors, respectively, totaling 35%, which is non-negotiable. This has led to the reconstruction, renovation, and upgrading of 200 primary health centers and 221 schools across the state.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a day before program had,  also commended Otti's development efforts in Abia State, inaugurating a major road project.
In his address, the University of Port Harcourt Vice-Chancellor Prof. Owunari Georgewill praised Otti's interventions in the university, including building the Faculty of Social Sciences, and sought more support for student and staff accommodation.

The 1980s Alumni of UNIPORT expressed satisfaction with the development achieved in Abia State under Otti's leadership, stating they were proud of him. The event featured a tour of ongoing projects, showcasing the governor's commitment to transforming the state .
