Former Nigerian international Andrew Uwe has congratulated the Super Eagles on their qualification for the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), praising the team’s commitment and fighting spirit while urging them to remain focused on the ultimate prize.

 

Uwe described the team’s progress as well-deserved, noting that the players have shown discipline, unity, and tactical awareness in their group-stage performances.

 

“I congratulate the Super Eagles for qualifying for the Round of 16. It is a good achievement and a reward for their hard work so far,” Uwe said. “However, this is not the time to rest on their oars. The real work starts now.”

 

The former international stressed that Nigeria’s rich football history and pedigree at AFCON demand higher standards and sustained concentration throughout the tournament.

 

“The goal should be very clear — return home with the trophy,” he added. “They must stay humble, remain focused, and take every match as a final. If they do that, they have what it takes to go all the way.”

 

Uwe also encouraged the players to draw motivation from the support of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, describing the Super Eagles as a symbol of unity and pride for the country.
