Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Judith Chime has delivered an emotional tribute to Nigeria’s women’s national football team after they reclaimed continental glory by winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Chime, who was part of the iconic 1999 Super Falcons squad, described the triumph as “more than a football victory,” calling it a celebration of legacy, sacrifice, and generations of Nigerian women who have carried the nation’s colors with pride.

“This triumph is dedicated to every woman who has worn the green-white-green, blazing trails in football fields across the world,” Chime said in her heartfelt message. “It is a salute to the late Ifeanyi Chiejine, whose passion, leadership, and talent still resonate with us. It is a standing ovation for the 1999 squad, whose groundbreaking run in the United States etched Nigeria into global football history.”

Chime, who guarded the posts for Nigeria during some of the team’s finest moments, stressed that the Falcons’ victory was not only for the present generation but for all who paved the way.

“The 2025 Super Falcons have once again proven that Nigerian women are not just part of the game—they redefine it. They are fighters, leaders, and champions—then, now, and forever,” she said.

The former goalkeeper paid homage to the late Ifeanyi Chiejine, Nigeria’s first captain at the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Cup and an inspirational figure for the team, and praised the legendary 1999 squad that reached the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup, shocking the world with their historic run.

Chime concluded with a rallying call:
