Football, A Passion and Unifying Factor – Adesola

Football is a passion and a unifying factor in Nigeria and this is a
guarantee that security is assured if granted the hosting right for
the under 20 Women World Cup.

Mr Olusade Adesola, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youths
and Sports Development, made this statement in his office while
playing host to the FIFA Delegation from Zurich, Switzerland and
Inspection Team to Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary reiterated that the proposed hosting right
will be a big event that Nigeria is looking forward to, hence if the
right is granted; this will help to boost the nation’s image and its
economy.

Earlier, Mr Amaju Pinnick, President, Nigerian Football Federation, who
led the Delegation in his remarks, informed the house that Nigeria
would be the first developing country to host the tournament if the
bid is granted.

Mr Pinnick stressed that Nigeria have attended all the editions and the
most qualified out of the four contesting countries. The Delegates
have toured round the designated centres in Asaba in Delta State,
Benin City in Edo State, Uyo in Akwa- Ibom and Lagos in Lagos State
and expressed no adverse findings.

In the same vein, the President Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu
Gumel assured the delegates of its support as Nigeria is conducive and
ready to host the tournament

The FIFA Delegation Leader, Kaj Heyral in charge of facilities said
that in France last year, it was a good event and emphasis is on a
good host which they believe exist in Nigeria.
